About Logan Pavilion

The Logan Pavilion: Architectural Evolution in Wyoming

Situated north of Jackson, Wyoming, Logan Pavilion proudly stands as Eric Logan’s family sanctuary. Initially constructed in 1997, this minimalist haven has, over the years, seamlessly adapted to the family’s changing needs.

Merging Traditional Forms with Modern Materials

Drawing inspiration from vernacular hay sheds, its iconic gabled roof, perched on towering columns, symbolizes shelter amidst open plains. Meticulously, Eric Logan selected exterior elements like cedar shingles and rusted sheet steel. Not only do these materials blend harmoniously with the landscape, but they also age with a unique grace. Inside, recycled elements combined with finishes such as oiled masonite and raw MDF cabinetry infuse a contemporary flair.

By 2001, as the family grew, they strategically added a guest house, ideal for hosting. Moreover, a roomy garage found its place on the property. This space now houses Eric’s diverse collections, ranging from cars to vinyl records. Thoughtfully, oxidized steel, chosen for the garage, mirrors the home’s aesthetic, rusting naturally over time.

2020 Renovations: A Modern Take on Classic Design

Come 2020, the home underwent transformative renovations. Now, it boasts four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Significantly, the revamp introduced a metal roof, replacing the older shingles. Despite initial neighborhood resistance, the innovative design triumphed. Originally, Eric’s exterior staining technique imparted a rustic charm. However, the latest changes have steered towards a more refined appearance.

Strategically designed to amplify natural light and ventilation, the home effortlessly captures breathtaking Teton Mountain views. Given Wyoming’s often extreme weather, the residence employs deep overhangs, ensuring protection from the elements. Over the years, the family has actively enriched the surroundings, adding diverse trees and plants. These thoughtful additions not only offer shade but also nurture the local wildlife.

Timeless Architectural Mastery

Today, Eric fondly likens his home’s latest incarnation to a “new black sweater.” Its inherent simplicity, coupled with intentional updates, ensures it remains a timeless architectural gem.
