Casa Draghi by IN-NOVA STUDIO is located in Parete, Italy. Designed in 2025, this apartment underwent a complete transformation to adapt to modern living while preserving its historic essence. The renovation balances contemporary functionality with respect for the building’s history, using details like Vienna straw and glass to reflect its past.
The main aim of the project was to eliminate superfluous partitions in order to recover the original essence of the apartment. The architects created a harmonious flow of interconnected spaces, where comfort and functionality take center stage. The living room, with its graniglia floor that recalls the apartment’s history, has a spacious west-facing terrace. This design choice allows natural light to highlight the apartment’s warm tones.
In the living and dining area, the kitchen is elegantly separated by a shelving system and a glass-paneled door, allowing it to be integrated or closed off as required. This versatile design guarantees privacy without compromising the flow of the space, transforming the kitchen into a flexible element of the living space.
The bedroom area features a large corridor with oak flooring that connects the master bedroom to its en-suite bathroom, the additional areas and the octagonal glass door. The design prioritizes privacy without sacrificing comfort, as the sunset lighting naturally fills the room. The design of a bespoke built-in chest of drawers makes efficient use of space, adding a warm elegance to the apartment’s aesthetic.
An important focal point throughout the project is the boiserie, which adorns the ceilings and the upper parts of the walls. This design element creates a sophisticated “white hat” effect, making the ceiling appear to float above the spaces. The choice highlights the verticality of the rooms, giving the apartment a feeling of lightness and harmony.
The master bedroom, complete with an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in closet, offers a serene refuge inside the house. The closet, illuminated by natural light filtering through glass doors, serves as a tranquil nook that enriches the room’s design without disturbing its balance.
In the bathrooms, careful attention to detail fuses the historical context of the building with modern requirements. The tiles in the guest bathroom evoke tradition with their connection to the past, while the main bathroom features tiles reused from the old living room, establishing a visual link between the past and the present. The conscious reuse of materials reflects the project’s respect for the building’s historical memory.
Each piece of furniture has been custom-designed, from the living room accessories to the bathroom furniture, using carefully selected materials that reflect the house’s history and warm tones, such as Vienna straw and square glass. These details, together with selected pieces such as Miniforms furniture and Fontanarte lamps, enrich the ambience. This continuous dialogue between contemporary design and the building’s history creates a harmonious balance that characterizes every room.
The IN-NOVA STUDIO project has transformed the apartment into a functional space and a visual and sensory experience. The renovation celebrates the connection between past and present, with careful attention to detail evident in every element. The design relies on natural light to unify the space, creating an atmosphere that nurtures everyday well-being.
