The Timeless Tale of Maison Salentina
Nestled in the heart of Salento, Italy, the history of this house unfolds over two centuries ago. Back then, talented local artisans first crafted the two primary sections of the home, each boasting a unique star vault from the 1800s. Later on, around the 1900s, they added another room, this one featuring a magnificent cross vault.
Fast forward to a recent renovation, and a bold decision emerged. One of these core volumes was removed. In its place, a stunning internal courtyard came to life. This refreshing change, conceived by Acqua di Puglia, co-founded by architect Massimo Brambilla and his daughter Silvia, aimed to enhance the beauty of the Apulian backdrop. Consequently, this courtyard not only adds space but also floods the home with light.
A Blend of Culture and Comfort
While strolling through the “Maison Salentina”, you’re immediately greeted by hallmark features of Apulian architecture: thick, protective walls, Mediterranean blue doors and windows, and, furthermore, a series of terraces paved with local “chianche” stones. As you continue upward, the topmost terrace reveals a delightful twist. Inspired by Moroccan designs, this space beckons invitingly. Not only does it offer an arabesque setting, but it also serves as the perfect spot to unwind. Consequently, many find themselves sipping tea beside the quaint pool located on the terrace below.
