House on Lake Como by Pierattelli Architetture

House on Lake Como sits on the eastern shore of Italy’s most storied lake, a four-level house reimagined by Pierattelli Architetture. In Como, Italy, the Florentine studio shapes a summer residence that functions as a daily home, using measured moves and warm materials to keep the mood easy. The result carries the rhythm of vacation with the comfort of routine.

Morning light glances off the water and folds into the rooms. A floor-to-ceiling folding door pulls wide, drawing the terrace and its pool into the daily circuit of living.

This house in Como spans four levels and serves as a summer residence that works year-round. Pierattelli Architetture grounds the project in material calm, letting wood, stone, and brass carry mood and use without noise. The palette choreographs daily life, linking rooms to the lake and setting a consistent cadence from entry to rooftop lounge.

Open Living Threshold

A large folding door by Secco Sistemi shifts from wall to passage, turning the living room into an outdoor loggia when weather allows. The move expands the room toward an iroko deck with a swimming pool, barbecue, and planted aromatics: a clear gesture that threads conversation, cooking, and quiet lake views. Water sits close, and the terrace reads as an extension of the interior.

Tailored Kitchen Finish

Custom honey oak paneling wraps the living level and meets a kitchen cast in natural brass that will deepen in color over time. Luce di Carrara white arabesque marble counters add a cool counterpoint, while the decision to keep appliances under the counter and skip wall units frees sightlines and keeps the compact room open. It is practical work gear with a quiet glow.

Private Levels Above

The ground floor reintroduces the home with a small gym, fitted with custom pieces and Technogym equipment for daily use. One level up, the living sequence folds in a guest bedroom, dining, and that terrace facing the water, so hosting stays simple and close to the view. The third level gathers the master suite with a travertine bathroom and a second guest room—clear circulation keeps movement easy.

Art, Light, Rhythm

Artwork curated with the clients punctuates corridors and rooms, building a changing narrative as the collection grows. Indirect lighting, spots, and concealed fixtures layer gentle illumination, while technical systems stay discreet within millwork to preserve sightlines and keep costs in check. Throughout, fixed furniture—wardrobes, boiserie, bookcases with integrated lighting—maintains continuity and control. The Cigar Room crowns the house with dark tones, Cassina armchairs in Dedar fabrics, wooden blinds, and a bar—intimate and measured.

Iroko boards warm underfoot as evening drops and the pool catches the last reflections. Materials hold their line, and the lake remains the constant referent. The house favors consistency over spectacle, letting time, objects, and routines give the rooms their quiet charge.
