About Les Rorquals
Rustic Elegance Meets Modern Design
Though this house boasts a rustic charm, its architecture leans more towards rural simplicity. Close to the earth, it seamlessly follows the terrain’s profile. The exterior’s abstract and intriguing volumetry captivates at first glance. Two uniquely angled volumes anchor to retaining walls, stabilizing the soil on the slope. Its black pine walls enhance the form’s uniqueness, harmoniously blending with the landscape rather than dominating it.
An Interior Landscape Inspired by Nature
Inside, the design mirrors the surrounding topography, creating a picturesque interior landscape. Imagine hills, slate plateaus (equivalent to slate platforms), and striking black boulders. The space effortlessly cascades in split levels, starting from the street access. Notably, the reception floor extends, ingeniously transforming into a kitchen counter. Venturing further, expansive steps lead to the living and dining areas. These steps also double as informal benches, invitingly positioned to showcase the breathtaking Charlevoix landscape and the majestic expanse of the St. Lawrence.
