About A Luxurious Duplex With an Old Jaffa Flair
Halel Design Firm’s Bold Design Combines Industrial and Country Touches in Jaffa
Hadas Roth and Shira Muskal of Halel Architecture were approached by real-estate developers Tzemach Hamerman, Carasso Real Estate, and Vlodinger Real Estate to design a 260 sqm (2,798 sq ft) duplex without knowing who its future residents would be. Their bold design combined industrial elements with the glory of old Jaffa, where the duplex is located near the seafront.
Creating a Property that Appeals to a Multitude of Needs
The aim was to design a property that would coexist in harmony with the location and appeal to a wide range of potential owners. This allowed the designers to create a unique, unconventional design that speaks for itself. Hadas Roth says that the intention was to design a pleasant, warm, and pampering home that reflects the potential of the property.
Industrial Materials Blend Together in a Minimalist Way
The designers used a variety of industrial materials, including metal, wood, weathering steel, and concrete, that allude to the property’s location. This blend of materials creates a chic style reminiscent of boutique hotels while remaining pleasant and unassuming.
Family Living Space With a Hidden A/C Unit
The family living space is located on the first level and includes a sitting room, a kitchen, and a dining area. A power wall in the sitting room was cladded in weathering steel and contains a fireplace, an a/c unit, and an entertainment unit. The kitchen is fitted with a large island and floor-to-ceiling cabinets that conceal a hidden access to a pantry, a utility room, and a family corner. The dining area includes a large glass top table and a unique lamp-sculpture.
Spacious Bedroom Suite and Balcony
The lower level includes a spacious bedroom suite with a walk-in wardrobe, two additional bedrooms, and a bathroom. The balcony mirrors the main living space with its own sitting room, dining area, and outdoor kitchen.
Sleek and Stylish Master Suite with Unforgettable Views
A master suite that overlooks the sea offers breathtaking views and a unique vacation retreat experience. At 74 sqm (795 square feet) and a 15 sqm (161 square feet) balcony, this level is every couple’s dream. The challenge was to create an experience of space whilst maintaining an intimate feel.
A Home Office and Mini Bar for Work and Relaxation
In addition to the master suite, this level includes a home office corner, a library, a mini bar and a reading corner. A walk-in wardrobe with glass doors was fitted in the suit, reflecting the sea, and a large pampering en-suite bathroom was designed with a free standing bath and large glass doors that separate it from the bedroom.
Experience the Beauty of the Sea from the Bedroom
The bed itself faces the sea as does the bedroom balcony, creating a breathtaking look. The result is a duplex that combines the uniqueness of the old city of Jaffa with the urban flair of Tel-Aviv. It is an absolute dream to wake up with such stunning views each morning.
