Super Paradise Beach Club: Where Vintage Vibe Meets Future Retro Design
In the evolving landscape of Mykonos in 2022, many seek a touch of nostalgia, harking back to a time when the island’s aesthetic was deeply rooted in its native charm. With the Super Paradise Beach Club, Omniview Design has masterfully intertwined Mykonos’s first beach bar’s vintage essence with modern architecture, resulting in a “future retro” style.
This intriguing blend showcases traditional Cycladic motifs, from iconic groin vault-inspired entrances to pockets reminiscent of indigenous interiors.
About Super Paradise Beach Club
A Nostalgic Return to Mykonos
In 2022, as Mykonos evolved, many yearned for simpler times. Times when spontaneity reigned, hospitality was organic, and the island’s aesthetic wholly depended on its native elements.
Reviving Super Paradise’s Legacy
Shared nostalgia connected us with our clients, the owners of the historic Super Paradise. This venue stands as Mykonos’s first-ever beach bar. Our clients envisioned a blend: upscale services, innovative architecture, and a relaxed, vintage ambiance. This inspiration came from the club’s original 1971 aura.
Omniview’s Timeless Cycladic Aesthetic
Omniview believes in evolving the Cycladic aesthetic. We focus on reinventing native elements, materials, and motifs. Though we use cutting-edge technology to shape and control geometry, we aim for a timeless look. We dub this style “future retro.”
Crafting Super Paradise’s Design
We meticulously applied this design approach in Super Paradise. Each design element evolved from studying and reinventing traditional motifs. For instance, the iconic entrance emerged from experimenting with groin vault aesthetics. We tried various geometric combinations between primary and subtracted shapes.
Tradition Meets Contemporary Design
Pockets on the walls reflect a classic Cycladic interior motif. Now, they functionally house beverages or display local pottery art. Additionally, we played with deconstructing and reconstructing arcs, visible in the pergola designs, bar outlines, steps, and DJ stand.
