Revitalizing Space with Organic Design in São Paulo

In São Paulo, Brazil, Apartment RR unveils a fluid layout where furniture with organic designs seems to float. Designers Natália Minas and Gabriela Mestriner masterfully repurposed original materials, breathing new life into the space.

A Social Hub Reinvented

A young couple’s zest for social gatherings shapes the apartment’s redesign. The centerpiece bar emerges as a vibrant social nexus, melding original marble floors with innovative cabinetry. The bar’s transformation introduces organic forms and textures, enhancing the space’s allure.

Fusing the Classic with the Contemporary

The social area sports a new texture and a ceiling with rounded designs, providing a gentle shift from wall to ceiling. Structural updates to the bathrooms complement these changes. Balancing the marble’s coolness with the on-site crafted raked texture proved challenging. The designers selected new, simpler flooring and joinery to contrast with the existing, intricately painted baseboards and crown moldings, now in a Fendi gray (a muted, sophisticated tone).

The project’s color palette, textures, and standout bar warmly welcome guests. Textures also play a pivotal role, with fabric choices for the bar and a rustic finish on Itaúnas granite features creating a unique ambiance. “In architecture, revisiting materials to add new finishes brings surprise and redefines memories,” says Natalia Minas.
