Reviving Historical Elements with Modern Design
Brett, a modern wine bar located in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, showcases an exciting blend of historic architecture and contemporary design. Set on the ground floor of an old building, this venue draws eyes with its three glass doors facing the lively town square. Designed by Etiam Studio in 2023, the space retains its original wooden beams, brick arch, and checkered marble floors, creating a seamless blend of old and new.
Innovative Use of Space and Materials
The design prominently features a mix of steel and wood, striking a balance between robust industrial vibes and natural warmth. The central steel bench under the historic brick arch cleverly incorporates a fiddle-leaf fig tree, enhancing the room’s organic feel. Suspended tables ensure the captivating red Verona and white marble floor remains visible, preserving its historical significance.
Creating an Interactive Experience
A rounded main counter with an attached disc table fosters a social atmosphere, inviting interaction between patrons and the host. Overhead, custom-tailored hidden lighting, coupled with strategically placed cup holders, projects an inviting glow, enhancing both the visual and practical appeal of the bar.
This project is a collaborative effort between Etiam Studio and Mingardo Official, a renowned creative metal carpentry. Their partnership highlights the importance of craftsmanship in modern design, particularly with the custom-made Brugola chair—a sleek, steel piece that subtly completes the setting. The overall theme is a celebration of natural colors and refined industrial finishes, making Brett a standout venue in the panorama of Italian wine bars.
