Casa PA by Architailors

On the slopes of the Estoril Coast in Parede, Portugal, Architailors designed Casa PA in 2023. The house combines a cubish form with an entirely white exterior, resulting in a modern residence that embodies a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency through details such as the inclusion of strategically position courtyards throughout the interiors, allowing for an abundance of natural light in habitable spaces.

Striking architectural design with contrasting modern and traditional elements.

Encostas da Costa do Estoril

Located on a plot with a steep slope of 8.5 meters over 32 meters, the house defies the topography through its volumetry. The structure is the subtraction of a completely white parallelepiped, worked by terraces, platforms and a set of projecting volumes, such as those of the swimming pool and bedrooms. The subtraction of volumes creates a play of light and shadow, where the path of the sun dynamically influences the appearance of the building throughout the day.

Patios for natural light

The search for natural light led to the creation of strategically positioned patios, providing an abundance of light in the noblest spaces, such as the living room, master bedroom, kitchen and office. These architectural elements not only visually enrich the interiors, but also connect the inhabitants to the outside. In this sense, all the living spaces are bathed in natural light during the day, including the bathrooms, thus reducing the need for artificial lighting.

Commitment to eco-efficiency

Committed to eco-efficiency, the house eliminates thermal bridges and incorporates external insulation. The construction system adopted combines concrete with the Etics system on the outside, contributing to energy efficiency and thermal comfort.

Externally, the choice of white is not only aesthetic, but also strategic, as the building takes advantage of the light and shade generated by the subtractions, seeking to provide a dynamic visual experience, where the architecture reveals itself in different nuances over time.

Serene Atmosphere

In this project, the visual relationship with the neighbors was carefully neutralized to ensure the privacy of the residents. Each opening and the strategic arrangement of the openings were designed to create a serene and secluded atmosphere without compromising the architecture.

Fluid spatial organization

The house is organized on different levels. The basement houses the technical areas, the garage, the multipurpose spaces and the swimming pool. The first floor, accessible and autonomous, houses the living room, kitchen, office and bathroom. While the upper floor is reserved for the en suite bedrooms, providing a fluid and intuitive organization of spaces.

Harmony with the environment

In short, this house goes beyond its architectural function, seeking an expression of harmony between form, function and respect for the environment. From its privileged location to its attention to detail, every element contributes to creating a house where design meets sustainability.
