Maximizing Windy Landscape for Sustainable Comfort
Nestled within a residential subdivision in the State of Mexico, we embraced the windy landscape to optimize climate conditions and achieve sustainable comfort.
Inward-Focused Geometry for Privacy and Natural Light
The property’s location within a housing complex shapes the design’s focus on its interior. Casa Sexta’s geometry evolves inward, ensuring privacy while inviting natural light.
Shadows and Architectural Language Define Space
The interplay between solid volumes and empty spaces generates a dance of shadows. The structure delivers stability, a captivating architectural language, and organizes the spaces. A single circular column supports a large overhang that shelters the main entrance and the main bedroom above.
Three Levels Optimize the 350m2 (3767ft2) Narrow Plot
The layout unfolds across three levels to maximize the 350m2 (3767ft2) of the narrow plot. Walls angle at 45º to capture sunlight through ten patios, ensuring every room benefits from natural light.
Casa Sexta: Distinct Atmospheres on Each Floor
Each floor offers a unique ambiance based on its purpose. The ground floor accommodates public areas, with a black acacia tree at the heart of the project, linking these spaces to the upper level.
Private Areas with Independent Patios
The first floor houses private spaces, with each bedroom featuring its own separate patio for natural ventilation and lighting.
Basement for Services and Recreation
The basement contains service quarters, the garage, and recreational areas. This arrangement allows for their use without disrupting other family members’ activities.
Connecting All Floors with Two Staircases
Two staircases link all levels: a wooden one near the project’s heart, bathed in zenithal light, and a sculptural concrete helix for service circulation.
Landscape Integration and Harmonious Color Palette
The ever-present landscape is an integral part of the project and grows alongside it. The color palette combines white stucco, green foliage, and warm-toned furniture, with light wood complementing the chromatic range.
