Overlooking a lush park with towering rain trees that reach up to 10-15 metres high, the house boasts direct views from the master bedroom and roof terrace onto the park from its strong rectilinear forms expressed in stone and timber cladding. The light tones of Bulgarian limestone, off-form concrete walls, and brushed oak paneling for the interiors, together with the internal open courtyard and the Caesalpinia tree, create a soothing and calming atmosphere for the occupants.

This multi-stage renovation saw the addition of three gabled extensions which blended contemporary architecture with the region’s rural vernacular. These additions, along with the large garden designed by Claire Greener Landscapes, have created a cosmopolitan sensibility to the home while celebrating the clients’ city connection and local ties.

With the privilege of children in mind, the interior and exterior spaces have been designed to enhance the residential program, while elements of nature are ever-present throughout the project.

Introducing Autumn House – a stunning Victorian terrace house situated in Melbourne, Australia. Designed by Studio Bright in 2021, this property features a careful new layer stitched into the existing architecture and an 80’s renovation by architect Mick Jorgensen.

This project offers the perfect balance between the original Victorian elements and the addition by Studio Bright. It offers northern sunlight, raw-timber-lined ceilings, red brick floors and an outlook to the elm tree. The new work forms a series of curving and angled moves at ground level, and the exterior is defined by a mesh-screen clad wedge. It is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of Melbourne city, offering a secret garden bursting out over the brick wall.
