About Clinton Hill Townhouse

Historic Charm Meets Modern Living

Murdock Solon Architects skillfully revitalized a landmarked Brooklyn townhouse, merging original details with modern design in Clinton Hill. They transformed the 3,000-square-foot (278-square-meter) structure into a spacious single-family home, complete with a garden apartment and a generous backyard spanning 1,500 square feet (139 square meters).

Airy Interiors and Industrial Elegance

Responding to the owner’s vision, architects designed an open, light-filled main floor. The parlor floor, featuring an open-concept kitchen and living area, becomes the home’s centerpiece. Here, the ceiling soars from 11 feet to a dramatic 22.5 feet (3.35 to 6.85 meters), punctuated by towering steel-framed windows. Above the kitchen, a loft-style office nestles, perfect for working amidst the buzz of family life below.

Upstairs, the master suite presents a striking black and white bathroom, complete with subway tiles, a bathtub, a glass shower, and radiant heated floors, plus an additional half bath. The third floor accommodates three bedrooms, a shared space, a cozy library, and a laundry nook.

The townhouse boasts an industrial yet homey aesthetic, highlighting natural materials and reflecting the area’s historical architecture. Exposed plumbing and floor joists add character, while reclaimed wood from the original house adds warmth. Luxury touches like Italian Effeti kitchen cabinets, Waterworks fixtures, and a Tensui water filter elevate the home’s sophistication.

This Clinton Hill gem embodies a seamless blend of Brooklyn’s rich history and contemporary luxury living, offering comfort and style in equal measure.
