About Attic in Rome

The Dream of Roman Rooftops

Many dream of it: a penthouse overlooking Rome’s historic rooftops. Central to this dream is a two-tiered apartment, situated in the heart of the city. Initially, the home boasted a long balcony stretching across its south face. However, a previous renovation enclosed it, tragically dimming rooms and cutting off their exterior views.

Yet, our design vision aimed to breathe life back into this space. Consequently, we introduced tasteful lighting and elegant iron-framed windows. Additionally, three spacious openings were carved out, allowing sunlight to bathe even the deepest recesses of the home.

Beyond this corridor, a radiant dining area unfolds, blessed with expansive glass openings on two sides. Right next to it, the kitchen stands out as the dwelling’s true heart. Organized around a central island that overlooks the living room, it offers both open charm and a hidden space for more traditional culinary tasks.

Journey to a Rooftop Retreat

Continuing on, a separate hallway leads you to the serene sleeping quarters. From there, it gently guides towards a staircase spiraling upwards. As you ascend, a large window bathes the steps in light, acting as a prelude to the grandeur above.

Once you emerge onto the terrace, Rome’s majestic skyline takes center stage. But it’s not just about the view. Indeed, meticulous planning is evident everywhere: from a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen and dining zone to a relaxing lounge area and a scenic shower.

Challenging the Roman Blueprint

This innovative design boldly reimagines traditional Roman architecture. Skillfully, it balances shadows with beams of light. The harmonious color palette merges varying grays, stark black, and the warmth of natural wood. Intriguingly, each design detail whispers tales of faraway travels. Ultimately, while the terrace offers an intimate view of Rome’s soul, every design element within communicates with grace and sophistication.
