About Park Avenue Apartment

Sky-High Elegance: 432 Park Avenue’s Pinnacle of Design

Initially, Architect Rafael Viñoly envisioned 432 Park Avenue, now the tallest residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. Following this vision, John Beckmann, alongside his design firm Axis Mundi, crafted an apartment within, revealing Manhattan’s breathtaking vistas.

Glamorous Fusion: Embracing Transcontinental Aesthetics

Renowned for a glamorous low-slung aesthetic, Axis Mundi rose to the occasion, designing for an American client residing in China, with a family of four and a cherished art collection. Consequently, the residence now showcases illustrious names like Cy Twombly, Gerhard Richter, Susan Frecon, Vik Muniz, and Lisette Schumacher.

Artistic Interiors: Marrying Form and Function

Above a meticulously crafted marble and brass table by Henge in the dining room, a Bocci “28 Chandelier” elegantly dangles, with John Born’s ceramics gracing the space. Transitioning to the main living area, a monumental “Let it Be” sectional from Poltrona Frau rests on a custom silver-hued Joseph Carini wool and silk rug. Additionally, a ‘Surface’ coffee table by Vincent Van Duysen and ‘Fulgens’ armchairs in saddle leather by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia complete this entertainment haven.

The red-hued library exudes sensuality with custom bookshelves in burnished brass and walnut. Here, a ‘Wing Sofa’ in red velvet from Flexform floats over a ‘Ponti’ area rug from the Rug Company, while ‘JJ Chairs’ in Mongolian lamb fur from B&B Italia inject a dash of rock and roll swagger.

In the kitchen, grey marble flooring elegantly contrasts the all-white palette, punctuated by light wood and marble details. A hand-burnished brass pendant by Henge casts a glow on the kitchen island, as a floating marble counter spans the window opening, framing the ever-evolving Metropolis skyline.

Intuitive Elegance: A Dark Gallery and Luxe Master Suite

Contrary to expectations, Beckmann veiled the gallery in smoked lacquered plaster with mica hints, adding sparkle to the subdued elegance. He also blended extravagant fabrics from Christopher Hyland with a diverse texture and color palette. Subsequently, the master bedroom boasts a wall-length headboard system in leather and velvet panels from Poliform, enveloped in luxe Frette bedding. Dupre Lafon lounge chairs in buttery leather perch on a custom golden silk carpet by Joseph Carini, with Jean Michel Frank’s parchment bedside lamps casting a warm glow, encapsulating this haven of luxury.

Lastly, an innovative LED lighting system illuminates the facade, offering color-changing aesthetics controlled effortlessly via an iPhone from the streets below.
