About Gravatá 61

Reviving Paulista Modern Architecture

The Gravatá 61 apartment renovation spans 240m² (2,583 ft²) and offers a unique opportunity. We revisited an iconic building, a masterpiece of the Paulista Modern Architecture, originally designed by the renowned architect Rino Levi in 1964.

Blending Past and Present

Much like our 2016 renovation, this project bridges the 60s lifestyle with modern demands. We modernized facilities, opened up spaces, and emphasized distinct elements. Moreover, we restored original structural features, underscoring the building’s timeless appeal. A cluster of pillars along a structural longitudinal axis reshapes the newly designed spaces.

Redefining Spaces

We relocated the bathrooms, initially ventilated through a shaft. This move set the tone for the spaces, mirroring the approach taken in the 2016 Gravatá apartment renovation.

Creating a Heart for the Home

The kitchen and pantries underwent a complete demolition. Subsequently, the original dining area transformed into a TV room. This shift resulted in a cohesive living space, combining the kitchen, TV room, and garden.

A Palette of Neutrality and Boldness

Neutral finishes dominate, punctuated by a striking black wooden cube that delineates the kitchen. Apparent concrete, featured along the apartment’s longitudinal axis, not only unifies the design but also accentuates the building’s original architectural language. It’s a nod to São Paulo’s iconic 60s modern architecture.
