About Focus Hangzhou

Unrivaled Views and Skyline Connectivity

Overlooking the river and seamlessly connecting with the sky, Focus Hangzhou boasts an unparalleled setting. Imbued with the spirit of the era, it boldly defines the city’s skyline and forms a new iconic landmark building cluster on the bank of the Qiantang River, alongside the Hangzhou Arch among the seven “Big Dipper” towers.

“Urban landmarks are not so much about a name, but more about a pattern, a kind of power and grandeur, and a poetic lifestyle that integrates Eastern artistic conception with Western form.”
— Joe Cheng

Sweeping Skyline Gestures

The floor-to-ceiling glazing offers 270-degree clear views of the outdoor landscape, gradually unfolding like a scroll painting. The designers understand the profound role of the “window,” which provides a glimpse into the city’s evolving culture and simultaneously reveals the spiritual codes in the architecture.

Creating Harmonious Views

Joe Cheng’s vision for Focus Hangzhou is to allow everything on the riverbank to compose a natural view. The open layout breaks boundaries, removes visual barriers between the foyer, living room, and study, and blends aesthetics with formality. Forming a more expansive, holistic whole, the space captures the fluidity of the turbulent water outside the window.

Embracing the Beauty of “Blank” Spaces

The “blank” space embodies the concept of “creating something from nothing” in Oriental aesthetics. The real and virtual interweave, naturally forming an intriguing scene. The space becomes a stage where people are like dancers, creating dynamics and rhythms.

Architectural Sensibilities

In harmony with the iconic Hangzhou Grand Theater and Hangzhou International Convention Center across the Qiantang River, Focus Hangzhou reflects the power and enlightenment of the city’s landmarks in its interior design. The designers emphasize architectural sensibilities in the interior space through structural blocks, streamlined window frames, and a progressive, orderly circulation route.

Stepping into Grandeur

Upon entering the space, visitors are enveloped by its grandeur. The living room area is open and expansive, enhanced by interweaving light and shadows from outdoors and indoors, irregularly shaped sofas and floor lamps, and semi-circular lines that shape a magnificent scale.

Framing the Cityscape

In the simple and elegant setting, a rounded-edge block is specially added to the dining area. Featuring a ripple pattern and a hollow-out opening, this structural block offers a glimpse of the buildings on the riverbank under different lighting conditions. It captures the cityscape like a frame.

Unleashing Boundless Potential

The 30-meter (98-foot) frontage facing the outdoor landscape, the captivating river view, the undulating building skylines, and curvy forms serve as sources of inspiration for the interior design. The artistic aesthetic and functional divisions cater to urban elites who value the quality and dynamics of life.

With an unparalleled 270-degree river view, the space invites people to sit and chat, take a sip, or lie down to watch the outdoor landscape, embracing the sky, the city, the sun, and the moon.

A Space for Cherishing Memories

In the long river of time, each of us is a “gold” collector. This space allows occupants to gather the events they’ve experienced over the years. It offers boundless potential, weaving together different states of our realities, in which various futures are played out.
