About High Horse Ranch

Welcome to High Horse Ranch

High Horse Ranch, located in California’s Mendocino County, is reached through winding gravel roads. Its dramatic entrance, leading to a panoramic forest valley view, is truly memorable. The design focuses on enhancing the arrival experience: a scenic drive, a walk through shaded areas, and then the stunning valley view as you enter the house.

A Blend of Architecture and Nature

The main house overlooks the valley, complemented by two guest cabins in the woods. Sharing materials like reclaimed wood, cor-ten steel, and glass with the main house, these cabins offer both communal spaces and private amenities.

Centrally, the main house has a socializing area and a private bedroom-study zone. Designed to merge with nature, these spaces use the landscape as natural walls and windows.

Sustainable Building Techniques

Following the eco-friendly design of Loblolly House, the owners chose construction methods that minimize environmental impact. The main house and guest cabins were built using modular pieces, transported and assembled with care to avoid tree damage. This reflects a strong commitment to environmentally conscious building practices.
