About BH Apartment

Amidst Ukraine’s challenges, the BH Apartment project emerged as a beacon of creativity and innovation. Designed by Modektura Studio in 2024, this classical apartment in central Kyiv (located on Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street) seamlessly blends timeless elegance with modern comforts.

Harmonious Flow and Architectural Highlights

The apartment’s defining features, such as the spacious corridor-gallery, loggia, and balcony, formed the foundation of the design concept. The central corridor, with its dramatic arches and windows, unifies the entire space, creating a cohesive and sophisticated atmosphere. The insulated loggia, transformed into a lush plant conservatory, further enhances the apartment’s connection to nature.

Blending Old and New

Thoughtful renovations addressed various visual distractions, including wall niches, floor height variations, and exposed utilities. The team meticulously curated a harmonious fusion of classical elements and mid-century design pieces, resulting in a nostalgic yet contemporary ambiance. Vintage Cassina chairs, paired with luminaires from renowned brands like Louis Poulsen, Flos, and Vibia, elevate the interior’s aesthetic.

Materiality and Texture

To cultivate a sense of stability and tranquility, the designers selected a palette of toned oak, marble, stainless steel, and brass. Experimental touches, such as incorporating sand into the terrazzo flooring and embedding marble chips within the mineral plaster walls, add visual depth and tactile appeal.

Art and Artistry

The apartment’s design seamlessly integrates artistic elements, including sculptures by Dmytro Hrek, a diptych by Rostyslav Zavhorodniy, and paintings by Kristina Otchych-Cherniak. These works of art enhance the interior’s aesthetic depth and create a harmonious dialogue between design and creativity.

Resilience and Triumph

Despite the challenges posed by the wartime context, the BH Apartment project was executed successfully, showcasing the timeless relevance of design and the resilience of the human spirit. This apartment stands as a testament to the power of creativity to transcend obstacles and inspire hope.
