A new modern apartment in Madrid, Spain, designed by Febrero Studio, has been revealed this year. Located in the Chamberi neighborhood, the FEC Apartment was completely demolished, maintaining only the original structure of concrete pillars. As part of the renovation, Febrero Studio designed a central wooden module to bring order to the area and expand the living area. The wood was used to enhance the volume and the shape of the pavement. Hydraulic tile was kept throughout the house, due to the type and time of construction, giving the apartment unique charm.

The focus of the renovation was the reconfiguration of the social areas, in order to improve the relationship between the different spaces and equate the transition between them. Structural elements such as concrete, wood, glass and white marble were kept apparent, while a wood finish divides the spaces with several sliding doors. Furthermore, the woodwork was done in glossy white lacquer, leaving the spaces wider and clearer to show the original decoration pieces of the residents.
Vault on Vault Villa is a unique house located in Royan, Iran with a stunning view of the Caspian Sea. Designed by KRDS in 2023, the villa project was created with two goals in mind: to experiment with the facilities of vaults and domes, and to create harmony with the environment of this region.
Using advanced steel and concrete structures, the architects created new combinations of vaults and domes, while the building was oriented to the north and south to benefit from light and proper ventilation. In addition, the mansard roof system and cement walls were used to cover the upper parts of the building and to deal with the region’s harsh rainy conditions.

Designed by Taguá Arquitetura e Design in 2021, it has 350 m² (3800 ft²) of built area and has industrial design style with exposed concrete, steel and wood elements.
The concept of the house was to create an architecture with a brutalist and industrial style, but with ecologically correct materials to make it sustainable and reduce the impact on the environment. This multi-stage renovation saw the addition of three gabled extensions which blended contemporary architecture with the region’s rural vernacular.
