About Lui House
Blending Tradition with Modernity in Vancouver’s RS-5 Zone
Nestled in Vancouver’s RS-5 zone, this project navigates a distinct challenge. Here, houses must subtly echo the street-facing aesthetics of their neighbors. Yet, beyond this, when it comes to the interiors and the rear facade, the sky’s the limit. Seamlessly intertwining tradition with innovation, this home cleverly borrows nuances from its neighbors, presenting a facade that harmonizes, but also teases a richer, more vibrant inner world.
Transitioning from the exterior to the interior, we observe a meticulous attention to detail. Specifically, materials and designs are set apart by 3 inches (approximately 7.6 cm) outside and a mere 0.5 inches (approximately 1.27 cm) inside. These calculated separations, although minute, dramatically emphasize the experiential contrasts between expansive outdoor perspectives and intimate indoor settings.
Embracing Authenticity and Nature’s Embrace
Venturing inside, the property proudly showcases its commitment to authenticity. Genuine brick walls stand alongside Douglas Fir windows and cedar shingles. Additionally, copious natural light floods the space, enveloping the home in an aura that feels timelessly ancient, yet refreshingly new. Consequently, every corner offers a comforting embrace, setting the stage for a tranquil sanctuary suitable for both a young family and their in-laws.
Furthermore, this home’s design doesn’t merely stop at its walls. Instead, it spills out, forging a deep connection with its lush, mature garden. Even on the grayest, most rain-drenched days, this synergy persists. Inside, rich oak woodwork stands in stunning contrast to the verdant greenery outside, resulting in a harmonious balance that radiates warmth and charm.
