Description

Interior design and garden projects are projects of great satisfaction since architects can see the results of their designs in less time than what it normally takes to complete a building. However, interior design, when it is custom made, can be compared for complexity to a miniature building because it’s challenging and requires a lot of attention to details, even minute ones. This meticulous research of functional, aesthetic and emotional features makes possible to create a unique space.

The EB apartment, set on one level, is located in Civezzano, on the top floor of a 1980s residential building. Its main architectural features are an articulated wooden beam ceiling and two very large terraces, from which one can enjoy a stunning view of the valley.
The family of three approached the designers with two precise requests: to have an open space living area and to make use of the height of the ceilings.

The project idea starts from the observation of the apartment’s surroundings and main spatial features. The large French windows frame an urban landscape, with many neighbouring buildings in the foreground. it was therefore decided to use white as the main colour for the custom-made furniture and the walls, using the light that bursts from the windows as a way to link indoor and outdoor spaces. Certified Teak wood is used for some niches, shelves and floors in order to warm up the simplicity of the space. The kitchen island is placed near the north window wall while the sofa is near the south one to benefit of the best view of the entire apartment. From the entrance the fireplace stands as the main visual focus and it is visible from throughout the living area.

The living area is separated from the sleeping one by a milk-white door that becomes a lantern that directs the visitor’s gaze in the evening.

The flat’s height is underlined by floor to ceiling wardrobes and it’s enhanced by two LED lamps that overlap the existing, bleached beams. The lighting project is completed with the use of a few LED lighting fixtures, recessed with respect to the ceiling, which wash the walls and the furnishings. The south terrace welcomes, under a large curtain, the relaxation and outdoor dining areas, while the barbecue is positioned on the north terrace; both are accompanied by planters, ready to reciprocate those who will take care of them, with their colours and scents.
