About Casa Posillipo

A Symphony of Blues: Officine Architetti’s Renovation Masterpiece

The vibrant blues of sea and sky intermingle with the interior’s similar hues, crafting a chromatic unity with the surrounding landscape. A unique blend of classic elegance and color characterizes this house renovation, signed by Officine Architetti studio. It’s a delightful marriage of past and present.

Merging the Ancient and Modern in Naples’ Posillipo District

Officine Architetti, an esteemed architecture and design studio, undertook this project in Naples’ Posillipo district. They successfully merged ancient traditions with contemporary modern living, creating a fresh equilibrium. The architects focused on reviving and preserving the existing elements of this ancient dwelling, which forms part of an 18th-century villa.

Redesigning with Respect for History

Keeping the client’s requirements at heart, the designers reimagined and remodeled the room layouts. Blue concealed furnishings, along with white walls, stucco, marble, and Italian herringbone parquet flooring (approximately ¾ inches wide), work in perfect harmony with the wisely recovered ancient Neapolitan riggiole. This harmonious blend promotes a sense of visual unity.

The Enchanting Journey Through the Mansion

Upon entering, visitors embark on a journey through a hallway adorned with antique furniture, design objects, and works of art. Moveable walls conceal service rooms, and an astonishing optical cone provides breathtaking views of the sea and the island of Capri.

High ceilings adorned with stucco frames characterize the entire mansion. Antique finishes coexist harmoniously with contemporary furnishings, adding to the charm of this Neapolitan house.

A Living Room with Historical Echoes

A large blue bookcase, designed by the architects, serves as a seamless connection to the study in the living room. The room features ancient, recovered chestnut beams, stained to highlight their history rather than overwrite it.

Embracing History: The Veranda Bridge

Unique to the dwelling is a veranda bridging the living and sleeping areas. This veranda features late 19th-century stained glass and a wrought iron frame, which the architects completely restored.

Fluid Spaces and Colorful Transitions

The house’s fluid layout enables seamless transitions from one room to another. A harmonious play of light-absorbing and light-reflecting colors marks the transition from one space to another without stark contrasts. The blue tones of the walls balance the intense brightness from the windows, which open onto a spacious terrace (dimension) overlooking the Bay of Naples.
