About Ekopark Apartment
A Modern Take on 60’s Chic in Warsaw’s Ekopark
In Warsaw’s serene Ekopark neighborhood, a 150 square meter (approximately 1615 square feet) apartment underwent a remarkable transformation. A young couple, along with their toddler, entrusted Soma Architecki to reinvent their space for their expanding family. They quickly greenlit a radical redesign.
Revitalizing Living Spaces with Light and Function
Originally, a dim and cramped living area and an oversized, isolated kitchen defined the apartment. Designers swiftly relocated the kitchen near the panoramic windows, marrying functionality with stunning park views. This move ensured the couple could savor the scenery and supervise their daughter with ease.
The old kitchen space transformed into a walk-in closet, pantry, and a generous laundry room, doubling as a sound buffer for the adjacent child’s bedroom. The study, boasting a substantial book collection, now features sliding doors, offering a secluded workspace for the home-bound couple.
Evenings bring retreat to the parents with a secluded master bedroom, walk-in closet, and an en-suite bath, crafting a sanctuary from the bustle of family life and guests.
Retro Inspiration Meets Contemporary Design
The couple’s fondness for 60’s graphic patterns and high-legged furniture guided the redesign. The result? A vibrant, pattern-rich apartment balancing retro flair with modernity. Custom MDF cabinets mix with design icons like Verner Pantone’s Flowerpot lamps and George Nelson’s Sunflower clock, alongside modern lighting like Tom Dixon’s Etch Shade and Inarchi’s Frame light.
Books, CDs, DVDs, and artwork found their place, influencing the color scheme and adding personal touches throughout the space.
This project, a nod to the past with a modern twist, still brings a smile to the designers, reflecting a unique, memorable home where every detail tells a story.
