About Retreat on a Pond’s Edge
The Serene Journey to the Hidden Haven
The entrance to this tranquil sanctuary is a picturesque, winding gravel road, navigating through a dense emerald forest, punctuated by fleeting glimpses of a serene pond. As the journey ends at a modest parking space, the residence remains intriguingly concealed behind a lush curtain of spruce trees. Alluringly, a narrow boardwalk extends an invitation, curving ever so slightly, and when threading the needle between two imposing boulders, the visual poetry of the house and studio emerges at last.
Elevated Living Spaces and the Art of Framing Nature
The residence’s main living quarters and master bedroom seemingly levitate above the forest floor, providing compelling glimpses of the enveloping woods and the adjacent pond. Nestled beneath this elevated haven, a cozy study offers an intimate vantage point onto the moss-carpeted foreground. A secluded guest suite and a secondary study intertwine, tied together by a covered boardwalk and a hovering screen porch that defies gravity.
Harmony of Design: A Melding of Materials and Mood
The architectural symphony sings in a subtle key, with a muted material palette and unassuming flat roofs that allow the structures to blend effortlessly into the towering pines’ shadows, rendering them barely perceptible from the water’s edge. Yet, this unobtrusive exterior belies a vibrant inner life. Inside the dwelling, an ambiance of warmth and whimsy reigns supreme, enriched by a curated collection of art and furnishings from around the globe, each piece serving as a testament to the homeowner’s unique journey to this idyllic haven.
