About Park House

A recently completed single-family home and laneway studio sit on a typical 33’ x 122’ (10 x 37 meters) building lot. Perched above Douglas Park, the home feels like a treehouse. Interior Designer Denise Ashmore (Project 22 Design) and Architect Clinton Cuddington (Measured Architecture) collaborated on this project.

Industrial and Mid-Century Design

The home spans 2760 sq. ft. (256 sq. meters) of an allowable 2818 sq. ft. (262 sq. meters). It showcases the owner’s love of industrial and mid-century design. Features include exposed structural steel I-beams, clear fir wood ceilings, a three-sided fireplace, and walnut millwork.

Comfortable Living Spaces

The bedroom level has 740 sq. ft. (69 sq. meters) of space with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and stacking laundry. The west-facing upper deck is great for enjoying tea or folding laundry. It also has space for a small, year-round herb garden.

Open and Functional Main Floor

The main floor, with 1100 sq. ft. (102 sq. meters), is where the family spends most of their time. The open floor plan lets everyone gather in one space while engaging in different activities. The main floor is designed for entertaining, with an eclipse door leading to the south-facing patio. Polished concrete floors, high ceilings, and integrated music enhance the experience.

Teen Haven and Laneway Studio

Downstairs, 960 sq. ft. (89 sq. meters) of space is perfect for teenagers. It includes a games room, ping pong table, TV room, and patio with a fire pit. Additionally, a 320 sq. ft. (30 sq. meters) laneway studio behind the main house features a bathroom, kitchenette, and living space.
