Description
The space, part of an industrial-style residential building along the Chicago River, is particularly special to Owner and Design Director Lauren Svenstrup, because it is her personal home.
The designer approached the project with the same level of attention to detail and commitment to building a lifestyle that she would for a typical client, but on an extended time table — Svenstrup began work a couple of years ago, and brought the project to completion at the end of 2018.
Committed to sourcing unique and truly special pieces for her home, she scoured Craigslist and searched through vintage stores – finding items like, for example, an old sofa with a perfect curve that she reimagined into a sleek, modern conversation piece. Channeling her creativity and design expertise into details such as a hand-painted wall mural in the master bedroom, a full-length bright teal banquette in the dining area, and an all-black kitchen, Svenstrup created a residence with a surprise around every corner.
