About Cozy Home
Paluska: A Mosaic of Memories
Paluska paints a picture of a rich life. Sentimental treasures hide in corners and atop living room record shelves. Bathrooms showcase tiles inspired by overseas adventures.
Fusing Craftsmanship and Aesthetics
Our client, an acclaimed restaurant owner and ex-manager of PHISH, brought a unique vision. As a carpenter and son of a furniture maker, he desired an eclectic, sturdy home. This wish prompted our firm to blend contemporary and traditional styles in this Mill Valley residence.
Design Evolution: Unlocking Hidden Views
Originally, the client envisioned a one-story home, nestled in nature. But trimming the trees unveiled breathtaking views. Consequently, our design team suggested a two-story design, maximizing garden space and optimizing the vistas.
Entry: The Heartbeat of the Home
The entry anchors the architectural design. A vast window highlights a communal desk beneath the stairs. On one side, a geometric tile wall greets guests; on the other, public spaces beckon.
Kitchen: A Culinary Dream
Given his restaurant background, the client had specific kitchen aspirations. He wanted a functional, warm heart for the home. The island serves as a focal point for the open living space. Expansive glass doors invite sunlight, linking indoors with outdoors.
Communal Spaces: Building Connections
The family, including two children, craved a collective hub. The architects designed a “snuggery” atop the stairs, linking all bedrooms.
Vibrant Personality in Every Corner
The home echoes the family’s playful spirit. Warm wooden ceilings meet soft green kitchen tiles. Each bathroom showcases bright, bold patterns. Handmade art pieces lend character throughout. Steep roofs create attic spaces and lofts, while the backyard invites year-round play.
Conclusion: A Character-Driven Abode
This home balances simplicity with charm, restraint with personality. Meticulous detail and architect-client collaboration birthed this gem in Mill Valley’s hills.
