About Mumian Chengdu

Chengdu’s Cotton Roses and 24 City

In Chengdu, 24 City uniquely blooms with cotton roses, always a breathtaking sight. Moreover, the documentary “24 City” by Jia Zhangke vividly showcases the transformation of Factory 420 into 24 City by CR Land. Consequently, this film evokes deep nostalgia for many locals.

A Brief Dive into History

In the 1950s, amid China’s Third-Front Construction campaign, major arsenals notably shifted to Southwest China. Hence, Factory 111 from Shenyang transitioned to become Chengdu’s Factory 420. Nestled in Shuangqiaozi, this factory once proudly ranked among China’s top enterprises, boasting almost 20,000 workers at its zenith.

Factory 420 not only reflected Chengdu’s laid-back lifestyle but also stood as a testament to the city’s resilience, spirit, and pride during a remarkable period.

By 2007, CR Land had strategically acquired the land where Factory 420 stood. Although the iconic chimneys vanished, the memories poignantly linger for many who witnessed that era.

Memories Reimagined in Modern Design

For Chengdu, 24 City symbolizes a bridge between the past and future. On this site, now housing Mumian Chengdu, narratives of the city’s industrial growth intertwine with the vibrant significance of 24 City.

Furthermore, the site’s illustrious history abundantly fuels creativity. Drawing inspiration from Chengdu’s literati lifestyle and 24 City’s legacy, CCD designers passionately infused the area’s rich essence into the hotel, thus revealing a fresh narrative.

Where Past Meets Present

Interestingly, the hotel seamlessly melds nostalgia with a top-tier modern guest experience. It eloquently tells a story of intertwining timelines, where past and present, old and new, blend harmoniously.

Incorporating nature’s innate simplicity, the design vision ensures both the outdoors and interiors radiate serenity. With a clear aim for an artful blend of ancient and modern, the designers deliberately employed oriental elements, soft lighting, and an ambience of sophisticated relaxation.

Artworks, inspired by the surroundings, at the reception mirror Wuhou Temple’s iconic red walls and Chengdu’s bustling East Gate. These symbolic elements, such as bamboo and red walls, not only resonate with the ancient Shu Kingdom but also stand as an enduring muse for contemporary art.

Today, the hotel stands as an amber piece, preserving Chengdu’s vibrant cultural legacy. It celebrates and showcases the city’s cherished memories, embedding Factory 420’s indelible imprints amid Chengdu’s modern evolution.

A Masterpiece of Design

Balancing old-world charm with innovative design, the interiors artfully intertwine Chengdu’s architectural legacy. Gray bricks, pitched roofs, and a fresh modern aura combine to create a vivid tapestry reminiscent of ancient streets yet with a contemporary twist.

Utilizing exquisite Sichuan figured satin, the hotel crafts a backdrop of intimate charm. It invites guests to relive the richness of traditional culture while basking in a modern artistic ambiance.

Moreover, drawing inspiration from Chengdu’s renowned teahouses, the design embodies the city’s unique social fabric in every meticulously crafted detail.

An Ode to Timeless Craftsmanship

By integrating Sichuan figured satin, designers masterfully wove time into the living space, crafting a mesmerizing ambiance. The dining space, adorned in this satin, captures the city’s heartbeat. Vibrant colors bring stories of yesteryears to life, wrapping guests in a familiar, warm embrace of nostalgia.

The Essence of Grace and Beauty

In design, the pursuit of elegance remains a steadfast beacon. It’s in recognizing beauty that gracefulness truly flourishes.

In the guestrooms, every corner resonates with echoes from history. Each design element, whether furniture or porcelain patterns, invokes profound emotions. As a result, this fusion of vintage allure and modern design manifests a distinctive, magnetic charm.

In conclusion, embracing Chengdu’s rich tapestry of culture and history, the hotel effortlessly blends time-honored craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, unfolding a realm of captivating allure.
