About Villa Appia Antica

Historic Elegance Meets Modern Refinement

Nestled in historic Rome, a villa proudly unveils panoramic views of ancient treetops from its sweeping windows. Situated on the storied Appian Way, this gem bears witness to Rome’s lasting grandeur. Recently, experts meticulously renovated the apartment, primarily focusing on infusing light and elegantly displaying a curated design collection.

Architectural Transformation: From Dim to Dazzling

First and foremost, architects prioritized sunlight. Adjacently, the villa’s lush tree-canopy gracefully acts as a natural sun diffuser. However, before MGK’s pivotal intervention, dimness dominated the original apartment, particularly its secluded inner chambers.

In response, they innovatively redesigned the layout, merging previously isolated spaces. Consequently, large and adaptable windows now usher in abundant light. Even more remarkably, distant corridors gain luminance, primarily borrowing it from the adjacent bedroom.

Masterful Interiors: Function Meets Aesthetics

Custom furnishings, imbued with understated elegance, craft inviting atmospheres. Simultaneously, the kitchen, resplendent in sheer white, emerges as a serene oasis for gatherings. On the other hand, the bedroom exudes tranquility, offering a restful sanctuary.

Transitioning to the expansive living area, this space stands as the home’s showpiece. Here, design icons reign supreme: Barcelona stools by Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe complement LC2 pieces by Le Corbusier. Furthermore, Eames lounge chairs invite relaxation, while a bespoke bookshelf adds scholarly sophistication to the adjacent reading nook.

In the kitchen, design dialogue continues unabated. RAR chairs by Eames harmoniously encircle a cozy dining spot, fostering heartfelt conversations.

A Fusion of Timeless Materials

Delving into materials, the choices echo the designers’ impeccable taste. A prominent fireplace, accentuated with red Levanto marble, commands attention. In contrast, a tailor-made dining table showcases an innovative terrazzo technique, blending Carrara marble with vivid resin hues.

Embracing minimalism, the apartment’s design purposefully avoids excess. Nevertheless, 19th-century portraits, expertly procured at auctions, interject a playful touch. Coupled with the timeless fishbone oak parquet and the opulent marble finishes, they create a tapestry that seamlessly melds bygone elegance with modern sophistication.
